Minding the Gap
Between the promise and the delivery
by James Wolstencroft
A vote is only as honest as the promise it was cast for. The paper examines the gap between what is promised and what is delivered, and the machinery of persuasion that lives in that gap: the manifesto, the campaign, the message tested until it convinces without committing.
Traceability dies here first. A promise that binds nobody needs no ledger.
Hands forward to Counting the Pebble: counting the pebble honestly is only half the problem, and it is the half to solve first.
In preparation, unpublished at the time of writing. This page holds the shape of the argument while the paper is written.
